Jason Horowitz is the founder and head instructor of the Jason Horowitz Academy of Mathematics. After completing his undergraduate studies in mathematics at Harvard University, he earned a Ph.D. in computability theory from the University of California, Berkeley in 2004.

Before founding the Jason Horowitz Academy of Mathematics, Jason spent several years as a software engineer at Google and other Silicon Valley start-ups. He also collaborated with Brilliant.org to create their university-level “Group Theory” course, and he still helps lead the Math in the Mountains enrichment program.

When he isn’t guiding students through Olympiad-style problems or designing new curricula, Jason can often be found at the piano. An accomplished musician, he believes that mathematics and music share a common language of pattern, structure, and creativity—an ethos that shapes every class he teaches.
